Energy Tech is an “ed opt” high school.

We strongly encourage prospective students and families to visit our school and visit us at a recruiting event to learn more about our unique school model. Typically, we host 4-5 open house events at our school and at our partner college during the months of October and November and we participate in all citywide and Queens high school fairs.

See below for a more detailed explanation of the four geographical priority groups for admissions:

Priority Group 1: Students who reside in Queens and attend an open house

Priority Group 2: Students who reside in NYC and attend an open house

Priority Group 3: Students who reside in Queens

Priority Group 4: Students who reside in New York City

At citywide and borough high school fairs, you can meet our team, ask questions, and get additional information and open house dates. To formally apply to Energy Tech, you must participate in the NYCDOE High School Application process, and rank us on your application—which you may obtain from your school Guidance Counselor in the fall. Our program code is Q61A, and our school DBN is 30Q258.

We conduct individual school tours by appointment only, and require at least one business day notice. We generally conduct tours between 9 am–11 am, and after 3 pm, Monday through Thursday. Please contact Lyndsey Alvarez for more information.

An optional summer bridge for incoming students will begin on Monday, 7/16 and conclude on Friday, 7/17. The program will include STEM project-based learning related to green construction, robotics, and mathematics. Students will also engage in team-building activities and special sessions on our partner college campus where they will learn more about our unique school model. Information was mailed home to incoming students - please contact Energy Tech if the address that we currently have on file is incorrect.

Summer Family/Student Orientation for Incoming Students

An evening orientation for incoming students and families will take place on Tuesday, 7/24, from 5PM to 7PM, in the Energy Tech auditorium. We will be reviewing this year's student and family handbook, our Course of Study Guide, and other important information and forms that need to be completed and signed. If you cannot attend, please contact Sara Mohamed, Parent Coordinator, to make an appointment to pick up your packet. Please RSVP!
