Maureen Tompkins
Supervising School Aide

After working in the restaurant business for 18 years, Maureen Tompkins took on a position as a school aide in PS 89 in Elmhurst working closely with the staff and students on a daily basis. After seven years at PS 89, Mrs. Tompkins felt that it was time for a change and found out about a new school opening in Long Island City called Energy Tech High School.

After accepting the position at ETHS, Mrs. Tompkins found out that one of the school’s partners is Con Edison, which was where she got her first job and where her husband recently retired from after 38 years of service.

Mrs. Tompkins is the first person you will see when you enter the main office and probably the person you will speak to when you call the school. Mrs. Tompkins’ job consists of everything that needs to be done to make sure the office runs smoothly.  Mrs. Tompkins feels that she has a special relationship with the students at ETHS and that they feel comfortable with her as well.

Mrs. Tompkins is excited to be on board with ETHS since its opening in 2013 and is looking forward to being a part of such an amazing program and watching it grow. Mrs. Tompkins has two adult children. In her spare time she loves to attend concerts, spend time with family and friends, and is a huge advocate for pet adoption and prevention of cruelty to animals.
